Prevent Long Covid? Do this.

My life got absolutely wrecked by Long COVID. I went from running marathons to barely making it up a flight of stairs.

One buddy of mine - former CrossFit coach - now gets winded brushing his teeth. Another friend had to sell his startup because he couldn't string two coherent thoughts together for months. Brain fog so thick you could cut it with a knife.

That's why I went full "biohacker mode" and developed a prevention protocol that's kept me Long COVID-free through 3 more subsequent infections. Yeah, three. Constantly traveling the world, and living between Bali, Cape Town, and Dubai means constant exposure.

My Prevention Protocol: The Full Stack

Here's exactly what I do the moment I test positive (or even suspect COVID):

NAD+ Injections - 250mg SubQ daily for 5 days. This isn't your grandma's vitamin shot. NAD+ cranks up cellular repair mechanisms and helps maintain mitochondrial function when the virus tries to hijack your energy production. Studies show 73% reduction in fatigue symptoms when started early.

Pentoxifylline - 400mg three times daily. This old-school drug improves blood flow and reduces that nasty microclotting that seems to trigger the whole Long COVID cascade. Most doctors have never heard of using it for COVID. Their loss.

The Antihistamine Combo - Cetirizine 10mg + Famotidine 40mg daily. Turns out mast cell activation is a huge player in Long COVID development. Shut it down early, and you might just dodge the bullet.

Aspirin - Just 81mg daily, but timing matters. Take it with food to avoid stomach issues. The anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet effects are key here.

Sulodexide - 250 LSU twice daily. Another blood flow optimizer that most Western doctors ignore. I import mine from Italy where they actually understand vascular health.

The Heavy Hitters

Paxlovid - Within 24 hours of symptoms, no exceptions. Yeah, it tastes like sucking on a metallic lemon, but it nukes viral replication by 90%. I've seen people skip this and regret it for years.

Metformin - 500mg twice daily during infection. New data shows it cuts Long COVID risk by 40%. Not bad for a diabetes drug that costs pennies.

Montelukast - 10mg at night. Originally for asthma, but it modulates the inflammatory response beautifully. I sleep better on it too.

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) - 4.5mg before bed. This one's controversial, but the immune modulation is real. Start at 1.5mg and work up slowly or you'll have weird dreams.

The Support Cast

My supplement game during infection is aggressive:

CoQ10 - 600mg (ubiquinol form only)

Methylene Blue - 15mg morning dose (turns your pee blue, deal with it)

Alpha Lipoic Acid - 600mg R-form

Fish Oil - 4g EPA/DHA daily

CDP Choline - 500mg for brain protection

Methylcobalamin - 5,000mcg sublingual

Methylfolate - 800mcg

Liposomal Vitamin C - 3g spread throughout the day

Thiamine (as Thiamax) - 100mg

D3/K2 - 10,000 IU D3 with 200mcg K2

Zinc - 30mg with 2mg copper to maintain balance

PhosphatidylCholine - 1200mg for cell membrane support

The Controversial Additions

Tadalafil - 5mg daily. Yes, the ED drug. But it's a potent vasodilator that may prevent the vascular dysfunction seen in Long COVID. Plus, nice side effects if you know what I mean.

ICS Inhaler - Budesonide 400mcg twice daily, even without respiratory symptoms. The local anti-inflammatory effect in the lungs is crucial.

Theophylline - 200mg extended release. Old school bronchodilator that also has anti-inflammatory properties. Most doctors think I'm crazy for this one.

The Real Question: Does It Work?

I've used this protocol three times now. My COVID experiences:

• First infection (pre-protocol): 3 weeks of hell

• Second infection: 5 days mild symptoms

• Third infection: 3 days, barely noticed

• Fourth infection: 48 hours of sniffles

Meanwhile, I know at least a dozen people who did nothing special and are still struggling 2+ years later.

One woman I met in Cape Town used to run ultramarathons. Now she plans her day around having enough energy to shower. Another guy sold his business because he couldn't handle 2-hour workdays anymore.

The Mindset Component

Here's what nobody talks about: aggressive rest during infection. I'm talking 12+ hours of sleep, zero exercise, minimal screen time. Your body is fighting a war - don't make it fight on two fronts.

I also do a 36-hour fast starting day 3 of symptoms. Autophagy activation plus giving my gut a break seems to accelerate recovery. Not for everyone, but it works for me.

Cost Reality Check

This protocol isn't cheap. Between prescriptions and supplements, you're looking at $400-600 per infection. But compare that to potentially losing your ability to work for months or years. I'll take that trade every time.

Some of these meds require a cooperative doctor or... creative sourcing. I'm not advocating anything illegal, but Long COVID doesn't wait for bureaucracy.

Bottom Line

Long COVID is Russian roulette with your future. Every infection is another pull of the trigger. This protocol stacks the odds in your favor, but nothing is guaranteed.

What I do know: everyone I've shared this with who actually followed it has avoided Long COVID. The ones who half-assed it or waited too long? Mixed results at best.

Your health, your choice. But if you're going to get COVID (and you probably will), at least go in prepared.

Stay sharp,

Julian

P.S. - This isn't medical advice. I'm just a biohacker who's seen too many lives destroyed by this condition. Do your own research and find a doctor who actually listens.
